Keeping in mind that everything we use everyday comes from the earth - if it is not grown, it must be mined -the California Mineral Education Foundation encourages educators and the public to learn as much as possible about the locations and operations of those companies who extract and process minerals.  Additionally, to learn about the laws and regulations that are in place to protect us, and perhaps, most importantly the surprising reclamation projects and/or reclamation plans that all extraction companies must have in place in California.
